Hans and Maureen married in 2014 following a 10-month road-trip through Mexico and Central America. They figured if their relationship could survive a road trip with out GPS, marriage was the obvious next step. After the birth of their son Hugh in 2016 they joined forces professionally and created AOH Travel. Their greatest joy is traveling with Hugh (7) and Pierce (4) and witnessing their wonder, curiosity and excitement unfold in new destinations. AOH Travel has truly become a family business as the boys join them on hotel site-visits, tours, conferences and can be found sharing their insights on Instagram. The AOH Team prides themselves on customizing each trip to the client’s interests, style and budget to create lasting memories.

We look forward to sharing the world with you!

Favorite Hotel – I’m not sure I have a favorite but I still dream of Como Laucala Island in Fiji. It is a secluded paradise surrounded by crystal-clear waters and lush tropical landscapes. The island is almost 90% sustainable, meaning that when you order from one of the 5-restaurants (servicing just 25-villas) the food is coming from their 240-acre fully functioning farm, which cultivates a wide range of organic crops and livestock including Wagyu Cows.

Favorite Destination – Italy is always top-of-mind but I feel the most transformed when I travel to Africa. Most recently I traveled to Rwanda. From the awe-inspiring encounters with the majestic mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park to the breath-taking landscapes of Nyungwe Forest National Park, every moment was filled with awe and wonder. The cultural encounters, such as visiting the Genocide Memorial in Kigali and interacting with the local communities, provided a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and resilience.

Favorite Hotel – The Bulgari Resort Bali stands out as the pinnacle of luxury hospitality. From the moment I arrive, personalized butler service attends to your every need, ensuring a seamless stay as I enjoyed breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean.

Each meal I had was incredible and left a lasting impression (I stayed there in 2018… and one of the highlights of my stay is undoubtedly the luxurious bathtub in the private villa.

Favorite Destination - Oaxaca, Mexico, holds a special place in my heart as my favorite city to visit, largely due to its extraordinary culinary scene and vibrant culture. The local markets are a feast for the senses, offering everything from fried crickets to an array of Mole pastes and freshly made chocolate that's simply divine. The city's galleries capture the rich tapestry of Oaxacan art, while the Zócalo buzzes with locals enjoying live music, creating an atmosphere of community and celebration. Additionally, Oaxaca is the perfect base for exploring nearby wonders, including the mystical Mezcal distilleries, the ancient Tule Tree, and the breathtaking views from Hierve el Agua. It's a place where every visit enriches the soul.

Beth McBurney

Travel Advisor & Office Manager

Beth’s love for traveling began at an early age with family vacations across the U.S., hosting 2 foreign exchange students and experiencing life in France as an exchange student herself.  After working for years in the counseling field, she switched gears to pursue work in the travel industry and each day loves her role in the trip planning process.  Beth believes traveling is an opportunity to learn about new places and cultures, gain perspective and meet interesting people all while having fun, and she continues to get excited each time she sets foot on a plane.

“Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”  -Miriam Beard

Favorite Hotel – Any Montage Hotel or Resort is a yes for me.  Exceptional service, beautiful properties, top-notch dining, amazing spas, attention to detail and overall I feel like I’m staying in a luxurious home.

Favorite Trip or Destination – Hawaii is at the top of my list because it is a warm destination where you can relax as much as you want (beach, pool, spa) or add in some physical activity each day as well (hike, snorkel, bike).  Activities are plentiful, there is a variety of fresh and healthy food, and the land is diverse with its volcanoes, mountains, beaches, and waterfalls.  I love the culture and the fact that it’s easy to visit more than one island during your trip.

Favorite Hotel – Jumby Bay, a private island luxury resort in Antiqua.  The moment you step foot onto the island the entire atmosphere make for the most spectacular and relaxing vacation. Guests retreat to their own personal villas and travel around by bike or golf cart (no cars). Everything is included from the Tattinger on arrival to water skiing in the turquoise waters.   The level of service is above and beyond, 5-star all the way.

Favorite destination – Bora Bora - of course being on my honeymoon, this will always elevate the experience as a lifelong memory but the destination as a whole is truly memorable.  You walk around the entire island feeling as though you are walking inside a postcard.  Each view with crystal clear water, satin soft white sand and a motus in the distance would stop me in my tracks multiple times a day.
